Does what you would expect-- DOES focus image before triggering shutter
It's no surprise that when you stand in front of the camera and push thebutton, the remote triggers the shutter. There does seem to be someconfusion in reviews, both here and elsewhere, as to the remote's abilityto focus the lens before triggering the shutter. This remote is capable of focusing the lens before triggering the shutter. However, it will not focus the lens if the photographer has alreadypushed the shutter release button on the camera half way down to focusthe image or if you are shooting in Manual mode and have AF-C set asthe Autofocus mode. This means that if you are composing a photograph and push the shutterbutton half way down to focus the image and you then stand in front ofthe camera and push the remote button, the image will not focusbecause you've already pushed the camera shutter release button halfway down to focus. To get the image to focus while you are standing in... Top to learn more

a must have
If you own a D70 you simply can't be without this item. Because Nikon chose not to include a mechanical cable release option (or an electronic one either), it is difficult to shoot at slow shutter speeds, even on a tripod, without getting camera shake affecting your images. You can use the timer, but that doesn't always work for your shooting situation. With this remote, you get the same basic operation as a cable release as well as a bonus that you can put yourself in front of the lens and use the remote to trip the shutter release. It also works in combination with the self timer. One small concern is that because it's an IR remote, you must point it at the sensor, which is on the front of the camera. This can be awkward standing behind a tripod, but not seriously. I really enjoy using this product. Top to learn more

IR remote review....
Well...its a remote.I use it with my d50 and it works to about 30 ft. When I get the shot composed, I press the timer button 2x to get the camera ready to shoot, press the button and step out, or sit down and press the button during group shots. In bulb mode I do the same. Press the timer 3x to get it ready, press to start the shot and step away. Come back and press the button again and it stops the shot.Works just like it is supposed to.One thing to remember is to set the camera's time to receive the signal. The camera automatically turns the IR off after a certian amount of time. If this happens, it won't accept it until you turn it back on. If you'll be taking a lot of shots, just change the camera's setting to look for the remote for 5 minutes or so. Top to learn more

Pretty cool to play with
I use this with a T2i 18-55 and 55-250 lens. I've never used an IR filter and I'm no professional photographer. But from what I can tell, adjusting the ISO seems to play the biggest part of getting good images rather than exposure time. After playing a lot, I usually use ISO 1600 or 3200 but it gets grainy easily. There is a trade off though. Longer exposure times will catch movement a lot more than a short exposure at a high ISO. So weigh your options. I suggest play around with the settings and find what works. Manual focus is pretty much out of the question since you can't see through the filter to focus. Oddly enough, my autofocus works perfectly with the filter on. So I just use that.Overall it's fun to play with. See my pictures up above. The images I posted are straight from the camera, no editing. If you have some good editing software, you can make really cool images, but straight from the camera will be a little boring looking. I give it 5 stars because it's what...

Very Nice Filter
Just received this product and, I have to say I am extremely suprised at the quality. I was a bit skeptical about how it would perform, since it was priced so low, but it worked much better than I expected. IR photography is new for me, but was something I've been wanting to try for a long time. I knew what was involved to work with it, since my camera does not have built in IR capability. You'll have very long expsure times, so you'll have to use a tripod and you'll need an external shutter release cable. I'm starting out with monochrome since it is the easiest way to begin. Color IR is much more complicated, but I look forward to the challenges. You'll need to make White Balance adjustments on your camera to compensate for the extreme redness of the filter. Once the filter is mounted you'll not be able to look through your view finder. Make sure you have the camera positioned the way you want it and set your lens accordingly. My camera (Canon EOS Rebel T3) had no issues...

Most complete D7000 guide!
This is a mammoth book at 550 pages, and has everything you could possibly want to know about the Nikon D7000, including many topics not covered in the other guides I looked at. I upgraded to the D7000 from my D90 and was very pleased with the author's D90 book. Although I had to wait a few extra months for this one,it was worth the wait. The most useful part for me was the 100 plus pages devoted to explaining every function of the menus, with plenty of detail on why you should select a particular option. The other books I looked at just repeated the information in the Nikon manual.I also loved the entire chapter on autofocus, which on the D7000 is a bit different from the D90 I had before. Busch has information on exactly how autofocus works, both the "phase detection" system used with the optical viewfinder and the "contrast detection" system it switches to in Live View mode and when shooting movies. The chapter on shooting D-Movies also helped me a lot, because I... Top to learn more

I have had my D7000 since Christmas of 2010. I've read the User's Manual which came with it several times (the User's Manual is several hundred pages long in its own right). The problem with the D7000 documentation is that, while thorough, it does not explain the "why" of various settings, and how they can be used together to get better pictures. I've been looking for a clearly-written book which is not just a regurgitation of the user's manual (as many of them are) and yet doesn't go into extreme detail about the concepts of photography in general. I needed something that was worth the money, because it was full of information about the camera. This is the book. While there are certainly some quick discussions about things like what an f-stop is and how that number relates to the position of the aperature mechanism in the lens, those discussions are written to lay the foundation for extremely clear descriptions of all the camera's functions and how they actually work... Valuable guide to the Nikon D7000
Just published and only recently available on Amazon.Com is this rather informative book by David Busch called Nikon D7000. Unless you are a very experienced Nikon photographer and have used similar late model Nikons, this will be quite useful and possibly save you disappointment and money both.In order of what I've learnt so far:1) Shows how to clean the sensor without damaging it.2) Set it not to shoot if there is no SD card in either slot.3) SD card recovery software.4) Firmware update procedure.5) Software recommendations such as Capture NX2 and Camera Control Pro 2 (of course) along with the usual suspects: DxO Optics Pro, C1 Pro, Bibble Pro, BreezeBrowser Pro, and PhotoShop.6) Lighting gear and techniques - a long chapter on the most vital subject including flash and studio lighting.7) Getting the most out of your lenses - unless you are a pro, you could always learn more... ITT Pinnacle Image Intensifier Tube The PVS7-3P is equipped with an ITT Pinnacle Image Intensifier Tube. These industry-leading tubes use a gated power supply to provide truly outstanding performance in high-light or light-polluted areas, such as urban environments. The ITT Pinnacle works by eliminating the "halo" effects that people often associate with night-vision devices in cities, where random street lights were often an issue when using early-generation night goggles. Night vision units with Pinnacle tubes have a typical resolution of 64-72 lp/mm and a typical signal-to-noise ratio of 24.
Night vision goggles work by amplifying existing ambient light.
How Night Vision Works All ATN night vision devices consist of several main parts: an objective lens, an eyepiece, a power supply, and an image intensifier tube (photocathode tube). The devices function by gathering existing ambient light, such as starlight, moonlight, or infrared light, through the front lens. This light, which is made up of photons, goes into the photocathode tube and is converted into electrons. Next, the device amplifies the electrons to a much greater number through an electrical and chemical process, and then hurls them against a phosphorous screen that changes them back into visible light. The image will appear through the eyepiece as a clear, green-hued, amplified re-creation of the scene you were observing.
All night vision devices need some light to amplify. That's why all ATN night vision devices have a built-in infrared illuminator (IRI). An IRI essentially throws out a beam of infrared light that is near invisible to the naked eye, but your night vision device can see it. This allows you to use your scope even in total darkness. The IRI works like a flashlight, which is why the distance you can see with it is limited. Although ATN IRIs extend out to 100 yards, the IRI may cover only 40 to 60 percent of the viewing area.
How Far Can You See? There are many different variables that can affect the distance you see with a night vision device. First, what are you trying to see? Are you looking for another boat on the water or are you looking for a rabbit in the woods? The larger the object, the easier it is to see. Plus, are you trying to see details (commonly called "recognition range"), or are you just trying to see if something is there? Maybe you will see just the movement, but won't be able to determine 100 percent who are what it is. This is called "detection range." Another variable is lighting conditions. The more ambient light you have, the better and further you will be able to see. You can always see further on a night where the moon and stars are out than if it's cloudy and overcast. ATN typically states that you can tell the difference between a male and female or a dog and a deer at about 75 to 100 yards. However, if you were looking across an open field and there was a half moon out, you could see a barn or a house 500 yards away.
The goggles come with a head-mount assembly for hands-free wearing.

Works with the Canon EOS Rebel T3i
I purchased this item in advance for when I received my Canon T3i. It works great, but I have only used it for movie mode at this time. If your in movie mode, hitting the "s" button will take a picture, and the "2s" button will start and stop your video. This is a must have for anyone recording video of themselves for youtube and they do not have a second person behind the camera to operate it. Top to learn more

It does what it's meant to do
Customer Video Review Length:: 0:40 MinsI just got this remote control a couple of weeks back, and so far I am pretty satisfied with it. The shipment was prompt and it arrived even faster than some of the Amazon's own products. I am using it with Canon EOS Digital Rebel XSi. I chose it over some alternative products due to its compact size which comes in handy when lugging around a whole bunch of camera add-ons. I am also extremely happy with the incredibly competitive price. I only have a couple of problems with it:1. The user-instruction sheet is not very written and its not entirely clear on a couple of crucial steps in the setup. It would have been more useful to have something that explains the setup in some detail with each one of the Canon products for which it's meant to be used.2. The range of the remote is rather limited. I have not measured it exactly, but it seems that it doesn't work beyond 15 feet away. Here is a simple set-up procedure that worked... Top to learn more

Doesn't work with a Rebel T3
The Canon Rebel T3 doesn't have an IR sensor. It's a feature reserved for the more expensive T3i model. This remote does nothing for a T3, unfortunately.I can only blame myself for not actually Googling it beforehand, but the other reviewer claiming it works for the T3 model must have meant "T3i" instead. As far as the quality of the item goes, it's a cheap-looking thing, but it seems to work just fine (can see the IR beams through Live View on the camera).Wish I could contribute more to the review of the product, but the only thing I can add is: T3 owners, we're stuck with wired remotes only. Woodland Hills Camera and Telescopes offers the new, latest Canon EOS 60DA DSLR camera that consists of an infrared blocking filter, a new upgrade to the trendy EOS 20DA version. The Canon EOS 60DA DSLR enables real-time capture of sky at night. Some of the significant features of the Canon EOS 60DA DSLR are as follows:.
This camera replaces the nearly 7 year old Canon 20Da, Canon’s first foray into the infared camera industry. While the most likely video use for this camera involves long exposure time lapse videos, it appears the 60Da will be able to take real time videos as well. The Canon 60Da has another feature that wasn’t included in the Canon 20Da: video shooting. The modified filter on the sensor is touted by Canon to let in about 3x the amount of hydrogen-alpha red light as the regular 60D which could produce extraordinary, or if nothing else interesting, DSLR video. In fact, fairly unexpectedly Canon announced the EOS 60Da today as its second iteration of an infrared camera. The 60D is a mid level DSLR for enthusiasts who want a little more capability in their camera body then Canon’s Rebel lineup. In addition to the modified filter, the Canon EOS 60Da has added the “vari-angle” articulating LCD for easier Live View composition.
To get all of the colors that are present in the night sky, the Canon EOS 60DA has a custom made infrared blocking filter that will let in light to be captured by the sensors that is typically blocked by other camera filters. net), the new Canon EOS 60DA DSLR camera, complete with an infrared blocking filter, was a follow up to the popular EOS 20DA version. The camera is great for those long periods outside while looking at the sky and taking everything in. The Canon EOS 60DA DSLR captures reality. The camera was made to help define the accurate views of the red-like hues found when taking pictures of diffuse nebulae in the sky at night. The IR filter allows the camera to achieve a hydrogen alpha light that is about three times greater than the former models. This is great because the normal hydrogen alpha light that is given off in a gas form is not able to be seen with a normal camera. This camera allows anyone to create a sharper, clearer, and accurate picture that shows the natural instances of red hues during diffuse nebulae.
The Canon EOS 60Da camera packs a powerful 18-megapixel CMOS sensor (APS-C) that produces sharp and high-contrast images of astronomical objects, a major enhancement over the EOS 20Da model’s 8. The improved infrared-blocking filter is a modification suited specifically toward astronomy enthusiasts to achieve a hydrogen-alpha light sensitivity that is approximately three times higher than that of a normal Canon DSLR camera. Accessories The EOS 60Da helps capture the wonders of the night sky with its use of Canon’s award-winning EF and EF-S lenses along with other EOS accessories. “The EOS 60Da is a testament to the constant desire to meet the needs of every customer, including those in specialized fields,” said Yuichi Ishizuka, executive vice president and general manager, Imaging Technologies & Communications Group, Canon... Moreover, the EOS 60Da’s Live View mode is equipped with a Silent Shooting feature that eliminates shutter-induced vibration for maximum camera stability when the camera is mounted to a telescope or super-telephoto EF lens. Canon has also included an AC adapter kit with the EOS 60Da, allowing the camera to be powered through an AC wall outlet or a battery-powered inverter, ideal for long exposure image or video capture at home or in the field. This DSLR caters to astronomers and hobbyists who enjoy capturing the beauty of the night sky by offering a modified infrared filter and a low-noise sensor with heightened hydrogen-alpha sensitivity.
